NECCO Sold Again, Workers Bring Lawsuit As Facility Closes

July 31, 2018

The New England Confectionary Co. Or NECCO is back in the news as it was sold for a second time this year and being sued by former workers at the Revere, MA facility. The Boston Business Journal reports that Round Hill Investments announced the closing of the Revere plant on July 24, 2018 and that it sold NECCO to an "unnamed" candy company. Workers were to pick up final paychecks on Friday, July 27.

In reaction, workers have filed a class action lawsuit against Round Hill Investments for not giving at least 60 days notice for mass layoffs, part of the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, says the source. The complaint also mentions Sweethearts Candy Co. LLC.
