Spangler Candy Company Buys Iconic Necco For $18.8 Million

Spangler, long-time family business and maker of Dum Dums, won the bid for struggling candy company Necco, according to the Boston Herald. Spangler is based in Bryan, Ohio, and was founded in 1906. Necco was put on the market last summer, but didn't have any takers. It then filed for bankruptcy in early April, due to its inability to pay rent.
