Fresh Food Alert: E. coli Infections Linked To Romaine Lettuce

April 23, 2018

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued an update on the multistate outbreak of E. coli 0157:H7 infections linked to romaine lettuce, expanding its warning to consumers to cover all types of romaine lettuce from the Yuma, Arizona growing region. This warning, states the CDC, now includes whole heads and hearts of romaine lettuce, in addition to chopped romaine and salads and salad mixes containing romaine.

Do not buy or eat romaine lettuce unless you can confirm it is not from the Yuma, AZ growing region. Product labels often do not identify growing regions; so, throw out any romaine lettuce if uncertain about where it was grown.
