Canada Installs Opioid Vending Machines

Jan. 24, 2018

Canada is hoping to prevent a surge in deaths due to an opioid overdose epidemic with a vending machine that distributes prescription opioids to addicts. According to The Washington Post, the B.C. Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) is fighting the opioid crisis by installing three vending machines this spring that will dispense hydromorphone pills, a powerful prescription opioid, to people with a high risk of overdose. Health Canada has given a $1 million grant to help fund the project.
