The states of Maine, Colorado, Arizona and Washington have all voted to increase the minimum wage to at least $12 per hour by 2020, according to NPR. Washington voters approved an increase to $13.50 per hour by 2020.
In South Dakota, voters rejected a ballot initiative calling for lowering the minimum wage for non-tipped employees under 18.
The federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour has not changed since 2009.
