Obama Signs GMO Labeling Bill Into Law

Aug. 9, 2016

President Barack Obama has signed into law legislation that will require labeling of genetically modified ingredients (GMOs), according to The Washington Post.

Congress passed the legislation two weeks ago which will require food packages to display whether or not they contain GMOs—the labels can be text, a symbol or an electronic code readable by smartphone.

The Department of Agriculture has up to two years to write the rules, the source reports.
