(CHICAGO) March 29, 2016 – The Vermont Vending Association (VVA) hosted a successful first annual VVA Legislative Day on March 24, 2016 at the Vermont State Capitol in Montpelier. The VVA members interfaced with state legislators to educate and inform them about the industry and its contributions to the state’s economy, and provided product samples bags to more than 180 legislators and staff.
A key part of the group’s message included promoting VVA’s commitment to preserving consumer choice by providing customers with a variety of traditional snacks and beverages, as well as requesting that the vending industry be exempted from the “meals and rooms” tax which was passed in 2015.
“The VVA members have been interested in engaging with our state legislators for quite some time, and to showcase all aspects of the industry that our members are involved,” said VVA President Glenn Randall. “We hope that this legislative event will become the standard for VVA by serving the dual-purpose of showcasing our industry and providing a key opportunity to educate our elected officials on our efforts. Its success is a testament to our vision to ensure that our industry is on the radar of our key decision-makers,” he continued.
“As the faces of the industry in Vermont, the VVA members demonstrated the positive impact that the refreshment services industry has on local economies throughout the state,” said Sheree Edwards, NAMA Legislative Director, who participated in the event as well. “VVA’s legislative day is an important part of the process to build relationships with our elected officials so that we can provide them the information they need to make the most informed decision regarding legislation that impacts the industry,” she concluded.
