All Star Services Takes White House Pledge To Act On Climate

Dec. 17, 2015

(Port Huron, MI) December 15, 2015 – Jeffery Smith, President & CEO of All Star Services, announced today that All Star Services has joined with more than 140 companies from across the country in taking the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. The Pledge, issued by the White House, allows businesses to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to climate action, as well as to voice support for a climate change agreement that takes a strong step toward a low-carbon, sustainable future during the climate negotiations at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris, France.

“We echo the White House’s sentiments that delaying action on climate change will be costly for economies and human populations across the globe,” Smith said. “Thus, we applaud the growing number of American companies that have set goals to reduce their carbon footprint, and were delighted to join with them in taking the Pledge,” he continued.

All Star’s company Pledge includes specific plans to reduce its vending route truck emissions by 20% by using energy efficient vehicles; using sustainable packaging for packing and repacking products; improve energy efficiency by 20% through use if motion sensor lights across the company’s 20,000 sq. foot property; and increase the company’s rate of recycling by 20% by the year 2017.

According to the White House, the 140 companies that have taken the Climate Change Pledge, they collectively have operations in all 50 states, employ over 9 million people, represent more than $3 trillion in annual revenue, and have a combined market capitalization of over $5 trillion. “By signing the Pledge we are not only showing All Star Services’ continuing commitment to prevent global warming, but we want to set an example for other companies to pursue similar policies,” Smith stated further. “We view the Pledge as one step toward pursuing long-term sustainable practices across our business in the future.” Smith concluded.
