The Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo convened in Nashville, TN from Oct. 3 to 6, 2015 and showed off dozens of new food product trends such as gluten-free, protein and whole grains, reports U.S. News & World Report, but eight food trends stood out among the rest. Single serve salad kits were a huge trend the source reports, with Dole Foods introducing Take Aways, a new product that combines salad mix with whole grains and seeds along with salad dressing. Seeds are a growing food too, appearing in cereals, granola and salad mixes. Meanwhile, frozen meals were a product that garnered interest, as Luvo showcased its globally inspired entrees. Other trends included health-conscious desserts, using packages to tell a story, probiotics, sprouted grains and pulses (beans, dry peas, lentils and chickpeas.)
