USA Today recently published an article about Pantry, a company offering food through RFIDs and a locked cooler system to employees and consumers 24/7. Emily Refermat, editor of Automatic Merchandiser and VendingMarketWatch.com was asked to comment on the growth opportunities of vending machines and other unattended foodservice options. "This is an offshoot of the micro-markets trend, which is coolers and open shelves inside workplaces, and employees select what they want and pay," she told the source. There are more vending machines out there from the workplace to the retail space, which Refermat thinks will continue as the younger generations feels more comfortable interacting with machines and what’s their preferred products available at all hours of the day or night.
