Candy Company Executives, Members Of Congress To Showcase Economic Impact And Leadership Of America’s Confectionery Industry

Sept. 15, 2015

Washington, DCOn Thursday September 17, NCA President & CEO John Downs will be joined by U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), U.S. Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and confectionery industry leaders from across the country to release new statistics that show the impact of the candy industry on the American economy.

The event will take place during NCA’s annual Washington Forum, when executives from confectionery companies nationwide travel to Washington to advocate for a policy and regulatory environment that will foster business growth and unlock the potential for additional job creation.  Downs, Ayotte and Hoyer will also discuss the importance of manufacturing jobs in the U.S. and the confectionery industry’s impact, as well as industrywide leadership initiatives and the NCA member companies’ community involvement.  The confectionery industry has been an economic bright spot in the overall economy, and continues to do its part to meet community needs and help address the ongoing conversation about food and nutrition policy, wellness and food safety in the United States.
