(CHICAGO) May 11, 2015 – New Jersey Congressman Tom MacArthur (NJ-3) visited Jack & Jill, D.S.D. and Midlantic Vending in Moorestown, New Jersey on May 6, according to Eric Dell, NAMA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.
“Congressman MacArthur’s visit to Jack & Jill and Midlantic Vending was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate the power and scope of the refreshment services industry and more specifically the ice cream distribution and vending portion,” said Dell. “The Congressman is a strong supporter of small business and reasonable government regulation. As a first-term Member of Congress, this visit allowed us to identify industry-specific issues and introduce him to industry leaders in his district.”
“The visit to Jack & Jill confirmed my belief that hard-working business people continue to strengthen our economy and workforce by expanding opportunity and creating jobs. I applaud Jack & Jill on their entrepreneurial spirit and their support of the competitive, free enterprise system,” said Congressman MacArthur.
"We were honored to host Congressman MacArthur here at our facilities," said Ken Schwartz, President of Jack & Jill and Midlantic Vending.
“We have been looking forward to this opportunity to show him our commitment to our customers and employees and the impact our business and fellow industry businesses have on the state of New Jersey and the Congressman’s district,” he continued.
During his visit, Congressman MacArthur met with Schwartz and Midlantic’s Vice President, Alan Drazen for a briefing and tour to meet employees and get a first-hand view of a vending operation facility. The Congressman addressed industry questions related to calorie disclosure, the EPA’s proposed changes to refrigeration standards in vending machines, coolers and freezers and the industry’s upcoming DC Fly-In taking place this July.
Congressman Tom MacArthur was elected to the House of Representatives from New Jersey’s third district in 2014. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the House Military Personnel Subcommittee. In addition, he also sits on the House Armed Services Committee, the Natural Resources Committee, the Federal Lands Subcommittee, the Water, Power and Oceans Subcommittee and the Tactical Air and Land Subcommittee. Prior to his election to Congress, MacArthur served as a local mayor and councilman and enjoyed a 28-year career in the insurance industry.
