U.S. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland Visits Kimble’s Food By Design

April 28, 2014

Kimble Carter, president of the Georgia Automatic Merchandising Council (GAMC) and owner of Kimble’s Food By Design (Kimble’s), hosted U.S. Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) at the company’s headquarters in LaGrange, Ga., this week.

Westmoreland’s visit included a trip to the local Walmart Distribution Center where Carter’s company manages the entire foodservice operation and micro market, followed by a briefing session and tour of Kimble’s.

Carter and Rep. Westmoreland discussed topics important to the industry, ranging from health care reform to coin and currency issues. Rep. Westmoreland was also introduced to the company’s dedicated employees who make quality products for its customers. The visit ended with a reception at the Chamber of Commerce hosted by Georgia Rep. Randy Nix in honor of Rep. Westmoreland.

Elected to the U.S. House in 2004, Westmoreland represents Georgia’s Third Congressional District, which covers the southern suburbs of Metro-Atlanta into Middle Georgia down to Columbus, Ga. Currently in the 113th Congress, he serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

“Our visit with Rep. Westmoreland was very successful,” said Carter in a prepared statement.  “He was engaged and open to hearing about our concerns about the future of our industry and small businesses. I hope that he walked away with a view of how our industry has been deeply affected by the current legislative and regulatory environment in Washington, as well as the challenges that we stand to face, particularly with the potential changes to coin and currency. We feel like we have a new friend by our side in Congress,” he continued.

“This is another great example of advocacy in action for both NAMA and GAMC,” said Sheree Edwards, NAMA legislative director. “We sincerely thank Kimble, the entire team from Kimble’s Food by Design, and Rep. Randy Nix for their time in helping to develop this relationship with Congressman Westmoreland which benefits our association and industry overall,” she concluded.
