Chicago – May 24, 2017 – Building on NAMA’s expanded legislative and advocacy efforts, two NAMA member companies, A. H. Management, Inc. and Flowers Foods, recently hosted U.S. Congressional Members Peter Roskam (R-IL, 6th Dist.) and Rob Woodall (R-GA, 7th Dist.), respectively.
Rep. Roskam visited A.H. Management, Inc. on Monday, May 15, at their headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. The Congressman’s visit included a briefing session, where A.H. Management executives informed him on the topics important to the industry, which ranged from tax matters to regulatory issues. The briefing was followed by a tour of the facility, where the Congressman got first-hand experience of the day to day operations and was introduced to many of the company’s dedicated employees who provide quality products and services to their customers. Rep. Woodall visited a Flowers Foods’ bakery in Suwanee, Georgia on Thursday, May 11. Likewise, his visit included a briefing session on industry issues, a tour of the company’s expansive production facility, as well as a meeting with the company’s leadership and employees.
As a members of powerful House Committees (Roskam: Ways and Means, and Health; Woodall: Rules, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Budget), both Congressmen were interested in discussing ideas and suggestions with the NAMA members on how government can help improve the landscape for businesses to continue to grow and support the economy.
“Our visit with Rep. Roskam was a huge success,” said A.H. Management VP of Administration Linda Furlano. “He was engaging and very responsive to our concerns. We were able to inform him of the issues before us as an industry, as well as ‘put a face’ with those issues. We hope that he has an understanding of how our industry has been affected by current legislation and regulations, as well as the potential effects of pending ones,” she concluded.
Eric Dell, NAMA SVP of External Affairs, echoed similar sentiments about Rep. Woodall’s visit with Flowers Foods. “Rep. Woodall’s visit is part of an enhanced effort by the NAMA Government Affairs Division to educate elected officials on our industry,” said Dell, who was in attendance. “It is essential to our advocacy efforts to have lawmakers who are familiar with the convenience services industry and realize the impact that legislation has on our members,” he concluded.
