National Vending Day spotlights people behind everyday unattended retail

National Vending Day puts a spotlight on the workers and systems that keep products available in workplaces, schools and public spaces.

On National Vending Day, remember to pause and recognize the people, businesses and systems behind vending and the broader convenience services channel.

The National Automatic Merchandising Association describes National Vending Day, an annual observance held on the first Thursday in March, as a moment to spotlight “unsung heroes” across vending and micro markets and to elevate awareness of how unattended retail supports consumers’ daily routines.

NAMA also ties the day to the industry’s scale:

  • More than $41 billion in total economic impact
  • More than 160,000 employees
  • $10.4 billion in wages
  • $3.5 billion in taxes

For convenience services operators, the day is less about the machines and more about what vending represents: reliable, self-serve access to food, beverages and essentials in the places people spend their time — including workplaces, schools and other public settings.
