Amazon Tracking Abundance Of Repeat Shoppers At Seattle Line-Free Store

The Amazon Go store in Seattle, WA has been open for two months, and the return rate of its shoppers, according to Amazon, has been high. According to Reuters, Amazon has been reviewing shopping frequency, sales and other metrics, which Amazon thinks will be helpful in informing it how the concept will fare in other parts of the United States.  Some return shoppers, such as those in the building above Amazon Go, will come just for a drink because the experience is quick and easy.

Amazon Go is created like a small grocery store, but without the cashiers and lines – instead, it has a unique app, shelf sensors and cameras that allow shoppers to purchase items and leave the store without interaction with store employees. Amazon then bills customers credit card on file after they leave.

However, some customers have struggled with the new practice and have asked as they leave the store, "Is it ok if I just leave?"

Amazon continues to research improving technology at its store in order to improve shopper experience, such as teaching computers to recognize items and activities with as little information as possible.
