New Hampshire Business Uses Vending Machine As Innovative Fundraising Tool For Community

Oct. 24, 2019

According to The Laconia Daily Sun, a vending machine is being used as an innovative fundraising tool to benefit area organizations in New Hampshire. The vending machine is located in The Studio, a boutique offering gifts, clothing, accessories and greeting cards. Customers are instructed to put 50 cents into the vending machine, which then produces a matchbook containing a discount or "freebie" in the shop. Melissa McCarthy, owner of The Studio, will match funds from the vending machine at the end of each month and donate the proceeds to an area organization. In October, the beneficiary will be Stand Up Sachems, an organization that raises awareness about substance abuse and bullying.
