Amazon Puts Monetary Pressure On Consumer Packaged Good Companies To Innovate Packaging

According to Forbes, Amazon is asking consumer packaged good companies to update packaging to be more environmentally friendly, sturdier and less expensive to ship. The company is giving CPGs until August 1. Companies that make the change before the deadline will be credited $1 for each item that is shipped. For companies who don't, Amazon will charge a surcharge of $1.99 per item shipped.
