Nespresso has opened a flagship boutique in New York City’s Flatiron district that doubles as a hands-on testing ground for self-service and professional coffee machines. The 13,900-ft2 space is designed to encourage visitors to taste, experiment, and explore a range of coffee experiences. The experiential boutique was developed to serve consumers but could influence consumer expectations for office coffee services.

The boutique includes the Nespresso Lounge, where guests can test their barista skills using self-service coffee machines. Nespresso Professional equipment is also available for use, along with information on where the systems are installed in restaurants and hotels across New York, giving consumers a view into how the machines are used in hospitality and other away-from-home environments.

A second downstairs space, the Hidden Cup Coffee Bar, offers an intimate setting where tastemakers reimagine coffee with exclusive recipes released throughout the year. The bar offers drinks inspired by trends such as functionally enhanced coffees and zero-proof blends, alongside familiar Nespresso classics. The company said the space also showcases a proprietary multisensory mocktail experience that highlights coffee aromas and mixology-style presentation.

On the ground floor, the flagship includes a “taste and discover” area designed for self-guided coffee tastings, allowing consumers to sample different blends and styles at their own pace.
