This month, Portland-Ore.-based Roast magazine named Oakville’s Reunion Island Coffee a finalist in their annual Roaster of the Year competition. Selected from an international group of some of the world’s finest roasters, Reunion Island Coffee is the first Canadian coffee roaster to be recognized in this prestigious competition.
“Every year, I'm blown away by the quality and creativity of the applications that we receive,” commented Roast magazine publisher Connie Blumhardt, in a prepared statement. “It’s amazing to see the ways in which our industry friends are changing the face of business. Striving to be passionate and sustainable and to create a better place for coffee growers is the consistent framework. The ways and means that various companies build on that framework is exciting and inspirational.”
The competition includes a detailed review of each company’s business operations as well as a third-party analysis of the quality of their coffee. Reunion Island’s director of coffee Adam Pesce commented, “Roast magazine is one of the most respected magazines for coffee professionals. We’re honored to be recognized by them for our commitment to innovation in quality and sustainability.”
