Swyft’s Mercury rebrand adds operating capabilities for automated retail
Swyft has rebranded as Mercury Automated Retail Solutions as it expands its automated retail business across airports, hotels and other high demand locations. The company said the change reflects an expanded operating approach that combines technology with merchandising, inventory management, replenishment, payments, analytics and field operations.
Mercury’s chief executive is Ken Sullivan, whose background includes operations, distribution and supply-chain leadership, the company said.
Mercury reportedly operates in more than 20 airports and has more than 100 stores. The company said its airport retail model is designed to serve passenger demand in locations and at times that traditional concessions may not cover. It cited non-aeronautical activity as representing more than 36% of airport income.
The company is also expanding in hospitality. Mercury said nearly 40% of purchases recorded in its Better+ transaction data occur between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Its hotel assortment includes health and personal care products, travel accessories, toys and other essentials.
Mercury said the platform supports payments, inventory visibility, replenishment, sales reporting and merchandising performance. The company plans to operate across airports, hospitality, healthcare and higher education.
