SMRT1 Technologies secures 5-year smart vending contract with UpMeals

SMRT1 Technologies said it has secured a five-year contract to provide smart vending solutions to Vancouver-based UpMeals. The latter provides healthy meals to clients through vending machines..

SMRT1’s proprietary smart vending technology, the SMRT1 POD, employs an interactive display screen on refrigerated vending machines and provides secure transactions.

UpMeals recently announced a new partnership with Simon Fraser University to provide students with access to healthy food options. The machine features SMRT1 POD.

“When we began UpMeals, we saw a real need for healthy, safe and accessible fresh food options,” said cofounder and chief executive Drew Munro. “We’re excited to secure this partnership with SMRT1 Technologies and use their smart vending technology to deliver an innovative, tailored and cost-effective service to our clients.”

SMRT1 can provide feedback, inventory control and analytics in real time across multiple locations. UpMeals’ clients can use SMRT1’s technology to remotely manage their machines and using UpMeals’ software. Clients can create custom-built menus, loyalty programs and discounts for meals approaching expiry.

“Our vision is to provide universal, convenient, accessible and trusted automated self-service solutions to connect businesses with their markets,” said SMRT1 Technologies chief executive Terry Van Horn.

SMRT1 is looking to expand their services within the retail market and is currently running their Seed Round B crowdfunding campaign on FrontFundr, where investors and entrepreneurs can connect.
