Apriva, a provider of end-to-end wireless transactions and secure information solutions, announced that its wireless point-of-sale (POS) gateway processed over $1.86 billion in payments transactions during the first quarter of 2012, representing an increase of nearly 22 percent over the same period in 2011. The figure comes on the heels of Apriva’s record-setting 2011 performance, when the company processed over $7 billion in wireless payments transactions.
“It’s heartening to see that the growth Apriva experienced in 2011 is continuing on a similar trajectory for this year,” said Paul Coppinger, president of Apriva in a prepared statement. “Merchant acquirers and independent sales organizations are beginning to embrace the notion that wireless gateway services can be an indispensable resource for increasing revenue, improving customer service, and strengthening relationships with merchants. This change in perception has been a catalyst for Apriva’s increased performance across multiple product lines.”
According to Coppinger, Apriva is experiencing growth in a number of specific markets. “Business is brisk for our AprivaPay™ mobile payment application, core gateway services, and in the Apriva Vend™ unattended payments solution. We’re also receiving a lot of interest from merchant acquirers for the Apriva Wallet™, which gives acquirers a multi-functional and flexible mobile commerce platform that enables them to differentiate their services in an increasingly commoditized market. We expect that this solution will also continue to gain traction as the year progresses.”
The Apriva Wallet lays the foundation for a technology-agnostic, full-featured mobile commerce platform. Through this solution, merchants can offer loyalty programs, conduct mobile advertising campaigns and utilize social media and location-based services to attract customers and deepen relationships. In addition, Apriva Wallet offers merchants a number of reporting and analytics capabilities to improve operations and reduce costs.
The AprivaPay mobile application enables mobile merchants to accept card-based payments through smart phones, tablets and browser-based phones. Compatible with the iOS, Android™, Windows Mobile® and BlackBerry® operating systems, AprivaPay incorporates robust security features, and supports optional readers/printers.
An end-to-end solution, Apriva Vend gives vending operators the ability to cost-effectively integrate cashless vending into their operations to improve customer satisfaction, increase operational efficiency and expand sales and profit margins. Apriva Vend’s comprehensive service incorporates system hardware and software, wireless connectivity, transaction and alarm reporting capabilities, and integration with leading payment processors and financial institutions.
“Apriva has been actively investing in the creation of a broad product portfolio built to address the evolving expectations and preferences of consumers, merchants, and acquirers,” said Rick Oglesby, senior analyst with Aite Group, a market research firm based in Boston. “As mobile commerce begins to gain momentum in the market, Apriva should be well positioned to accelerate their already robust growth.”
