Chiquita plantain chips debut to tap better-for-you snack demand
Snaxsational Brands is partnering with Chiquita to introduce Chiquita Plantain Chips, a new line that brings Ecuador-grown plantains to the snack aisle in early 2026. The branded chips are positioned to appeal to consumers seeking better-for-you snacks with simple ingredients and global flavor profiles.
The line will launch in five flavors: Chile Limón, Garlic, Scoops with Sea Salt, Original and Sweet. According to Snaxsational, the plantains used in the chips move from harvest to bag in about 24 hours. The company says that fast turnaround is designed to lock in freshness, crunch and flavor. The chips are naturally gluten-free and vegan-friendly.
Snaxsational Brands CEO Mike Hagan said the company’s goal is to create snacks that are “exciting and accessible,” and described Chiquita Plantain Chips as a fit with that mission because of their bold flavors, straightforward recipes and focus on freshness.
Plantain chips remain one of the faster-growing segments in the snack category, the companies noted in announcing the new product. Chiquita Plantain Chips, with dip-ready cuts and a focus on recognizable ingredients, are positioned to capitalize on that demand.
Chiquita Plantain Chips will be available at national retailers and online beginning in January 2026.
