Pan's Mushroom Jerky started in Borneo, Malaysia, where founder Michael Pan discovered a recipe that had been in his family for decades. Pan learned that many of his family members are vegetarian Buddhists. Because of diet, they craved vegetarian snacks that not only tasted great and satisfying texture. As it turns out, mushrooms are a great replacement for meat. Mushrooms not only great texture in a snack format, but they also are a natural source of vitamins, fibe and antioxidants. The company's eponymous snack, made in Oregon, is suitable for vending and micro markets.
