Tyson Chicken Cups target high protein snack demand

Tyson Chicken Cups are expanding with three new flavors as demand grows for convenient, high protein foods.

Tyson Foods has expanded its Tyson Chicken Cups line with three new flavors1: Garlic & Herb, BBQ and Harissa. The new varieties are designed for consumers seeking convenient, heat-and-go high protein foods.

Garlic & Herb is intended to offer broad appeal, with Tyson citing research that 83% of consumers said they love or like the flavor profile. The company said purchase intent is especially strong among Millennials and Gen Z consumers.

BBQ adds a familiar flavor option, with Tyson reporting that 80% of consumers expressed positive sentiment toward the profile. The company described the flavor as a mix of grilled and smoky notes.

Harissa brings a globally inspired flavor to the line. Tyson said the profile was influenced by quick-service restaurant trends and is projected to grow 14% over the next four years.

The new Tyson Chicken Cups flavors are now available.

Why this matters for convenience services operators

  • Refrigerated and ready-to-heat food formats gain ground as consumers seek high protein snacks and meals during all dayparts. Consumers are ready to move beyond traditional bars and shakes.
Global and restaurant-inspired flavors such as Harissa satisfy consumers seeking bolder options, choice and novelty in mainstream packaged foods.
  • Tyson has clearly stated it is targeting younger consumers, including Millennials and Generation Z, with the new flavors.
