KIND Snacks founder Daniel Lubetzky announced on the Jan. 22 Shark Tank episode that he’s investing in Quevos, an egg white protein snacks firm, through his own family office Equilibra. The pact reportedly involves a $200,000 investment and another $200,000 as a line of credit for a 10% stake in Quevos.
Lubetzky, who last year sold his KIND nutrition bar company to Mars & Wrigley for about $5 billion, praised Quevos’s stellar growth in recent years.
The billionaire investor will partner young Quevos founders Nick Hamburger and Zack Schreier to promote their introductory line of high-protein, high-fiber and low-carb snacks. Quevos lineup is offered in five flavors – Cheddar, Sour Cream & Onion, Sweet Barbecue, Quevos Rancheros, and Dill Pickle.
“I am excited to help Nick and Zack fulfill Quevos’ potential,” Lubetzky said. “They have created a very cool and differentiated product with huge mainstream appeal. And I love that they’ve been best friends and partner entrepreneurs since childhood.”
A Type 1 diabetic, Schreier conceived of the idea for Quevos after tasting the crispy leftovers of an egg white omelet and discovering they could crunch just like the chips he was unable to enjoy. Together, Hamburger and Schreier experimented for two years before arriving at the product of their dreams.
“Daniel is a partner and mentor who has been in our shoes building a health and wellness brand from the ground up through every stage of growth,” the Quevos founders said. “We went into the Tank dreaming of making a deal with him and can’t believe we did!”
Quevos snacks are currently available online and at Wegman’s, Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods Illinois stores and other retail locations across the country. The company said it plans to offer them in the vending and micro market channel; and they are available in a single-serve 1-oz. bag.
The classic Quevos flavors provide 5g. of protein and 5g. of fiber, and keto flavors deliver 8g. of protein, 4g. of fiber, and only 4g. of net carbs.
