Quaker debuts drinkable oats for on-the-go nutrition
Quaker Oat Shake & Go is rolling out a whole-grain oat shake, adding a drinkable oat format to PepsiCo’s growing portfolio of functional foods. The new product is designed to be prepared in its bottle. Consumers add cold milk, a milk alternative or water to the fill line, shake and drink immediately.
Quaker Oat Shake & Go contains 15 g of protein per serving, or 23 g when prepared with 8 oz of milk. Each serving also includes 16 g of 100% whole-grain oats and 3 g of fiber.
The product is available in two flavors: Strawberry & Banana and Cinnamon Vanilla. Both are made without artificial preservatives, flavors or added colors, according to the company.
James Wade, chief marketing officer for Quaker Foods, said in a statement that the launch reflects Quaker’s effort to bring oats into more convenient formats while adding protein, fiber and whole grains to consumers’ routines.
The launch comes as PepsiCo continues to expand food and beverage products with functional ingredients. Quaker cited rising interest in cold-prep oats and quick morning meals as factors behind the launch. The company said 65% of Americans prepare morning meals in under five minutes, and many consumers are actively seeking more protein and fiber in their diets.
Why this matters for convenience services operators
- The launch reflects growing demand for portable breakfast products that combine convenience with functional nutrition.
- Protein, fiber and whole-grain claims continue to shape product development across food and beverage categories.
- Drinkable and cold-prep formats offer new merchandising opportunities.
- Convenience services operators may see more demand for breakfast products that work across vending, micro market and grab-and-go settings.
- The product gives operators another recognizable brand option for consumers seeking protein and fiber.
