Pierre Foods, Inc. Expands Smart Picks™ Beyond Education Segment

Pierre Foods, Inc. announced the expansion of its successful new line of more nutritious menu items in general foodservice. Smart Picks™, which was officially launched at the School Nutrition Association's Annual National Conference in Dallas, Texas, will now be offered to foodservice operators outside the education segment, such as hospitals, nursing homes, workplace and college cafeterias and restaurants.
Pierre Foods' Smart Picks line includes a variety of items-including center of the plate proteins and specialty items-that have one or more of the following nutritional advantages: zero grams of trans fat, reduced sodium, reduced fat, a good source of protein, made with whole grains and a good source of fiber.
