Catalina Crunch adds Parmesan garlic protein snack mix, peanut butter cereal
Catalina Snacks has made its Parmesan Garlic Protein Snack Mix a permanent part of the Catalina Crunch lineup after previously selling the flavor as a limited-edition offering.
The savory snack mix includes Catalina Crunch cereal squares, almonds, cashews, soy wheels and gluten-free pretzels. Catalina Snacks said each serving contains 10 g of protein, 1 g of sugar, and is a source of fiber.
“Today’s consumers expect more from their snacks,” Sam Martin, chief revenue and marketing officer of Catalina Snacks, said in a release. Martin said shoppers want bold flavor and nutrition together, and the company is continuing to focus on protein, fiber and lower sugar.
The company also introduced Catalina Crunch Peanut Butter Protein Cereal as part of the same rollout. The company said the cereal has 11 g of protein per serving, 0 grams of sugar and is a source of fiber.
Why this matters
Savory snack mixes are being reworked to be higher in protein and lower in sugar as consumers lean into functional snacking.
Mix formats can fit multiple merchandising spots, including grab-and-go, micro markets and breakroom pantries.
Clear nutrition claims paired with familiar flavors can help better-for-you items compete with traditional salty snacks.
