U.S. Food Facilities Have Until Year End To Renew FDA Registrations Or Risk Cancellation

Sept. 17, 2018

Any facility that markets food for consumption in the U.S. has between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018, to renew its U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration, a biennial requirement that is distinct from updating registration, said Registrar Corp, an FDA regulatory compliance consulting group, reports Foodnavigator-USA. This requirement is part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) of 2011, which amended earlier registration requirements of only renewing when there was a change. Even facilities that registered in Sept 218 are required to renew, according to the article. Not renewing cancels the registration, forbidding the manufacturing, processing, packing, or storing of food.
