BIG AZ® Introduces Split Sausage Sandwich Featuring Schmidt's Bahama Mama Sausage

CINCINNATI – September 17, 2015 - AdvancePierre™ Foods (APF), a nationally recognized, fully integrated producer and seller of sandwiches and value-added proteins, adds a new breakfast sandwich to its BIG AZ line featuring Schmidt’s famous Bahama Mama Sausage.

The BIG AZ Schmidt’s Bahama Mama Spicy Split Sausage sandwich is served with egg and cheese on a homestyle, fresh-made buttermilk biscuit. Each hand-assembled sandwich is individually labeled and wrapped in crisp, white butcher paper for fresh-made appeal.

Schmidt’s Bahama Mama Sausage, a deliciously spicy German sausage made of choice cuts of pork and beef and infused with natural spices, has been one of the top sellers in convenience stores on the roller grill since 1986. Introduced in 1886, Schmidt’s Bahama Mama Sausage hails from Columbus, Ohio’s German Village and was crowned Columbus’ official food in June 2014.

The Spicy Split Sausage sandwich joins two other “big” breakfast items recently launched in the BIG AZ line, the 2X Sausage & Cheese Biscuit and Biscuit Stacker.

The sandwiches have a 14-day refrigerated, nine-month frozen, shelf life. They can be sold hot from a sandwich warmer or microwaved on demand from a cold case. The sandwiches are packed in retailer-friendly eight-count cases. The BIG AZ Spicy Split Sausage sandwich is available now.
