New Rideshare Retail Service Helps Drivers Earn More, Enhances Passenger Experience

July 6, 2017

NEW YORK – June 26, 2017: Cargo Systems Inc. today officially launched Cargo, the in-car service that allows passengers to order products on their phone, without downloading an app. Founded in 2016 by former Birchbox employees, Cargo recently launched in New York and Boston with thousands of driver signups in 47 states. Cargo is one of few startups with access to Uber's Driver API and gives preferred access to drivers who sign up using their Uber profile. Available to all rideshare drivers, Cargo’s mission to enhance the in-car experience starts by connecting passengers to the products and brands they want most in transit. “It’s an open secret that rideshare will disrupt the logistics industry. Cargo will connect millions of people with millions of products every day, across the globe. Products finding you in your moment of need is the ultimate convenience,” said Jeff Cripe, Cofounder and CEO of Cargo Systems Inc.

Cargo quickly transforms vehicles into a mobile shop. Passengers see products in Cargo’s custom display, equipped with USB charge ports, and place orders on their phone through Cargo’s mobile website. Cargo’s proprietary inventory management system tracks all drivers’ orders in real time and automatically ships replenishment products directly to their homes.

Cargo’s “Freetail” model comprises a blend of complimentary and premium products intended to create excitement and curiosity for passengers every time they hop into a vehicle. Already the exclusive rideshare provider for Mars, Kellogg’s, Michel et Augustin, Emergency Stain Rescue, and Leaders Cosmetics, products like electronics, gum, snacks, energy, beauty and personal care items are staples. Cargo is also creating a platform for product discovery with buzzworthy items like hangover cures, trendy Korean face masks, or the next fidget spinner.

“We help drivers earn more by providing the best ride possible. For drivers, it’s an easy decision: Cargo costs nothing, we pre-pack each Cargo kit, ship replenishments to your home, deposit money directly into your bank account, and improve your ratings. For passengers, you never have to worry about your phone dying, riding hungover, or suffering through that snackless midnight ride from the airport. Everything you need is a tap away on your phone,” said Cripe.

Drivers are thrilled. “I’ve received consistently higher ratings from passengers, making me eligible for company perks and bonuses” said Qas Beg, a rideshare driver using Cargo in Boston. “I’m also making an extra $20-$50 a week with no extra work on my end.”

Cargo’s advisory board includes John Moura, a top-rated Lyft driver and former Lyft Marketing Lead, Mark Joseph, CEO and Vice Chairman of America’s largest multi-modal transportation company Transdev, Atif Rafiq, Volvo’s Chief Digital Officer, and Alisyn Malek, former head of General Motor’s Innovation Pipeline and an Investor at GM Ventures.
