Hershey, Smucker, Hormel and others announce executive leadership changes

Food and beverage companies including Hershey, Smucker, Hormel Foods and Danone Canada announced leadership appointments across finance, sales and technical operations.

Food and beverage personnel changes at Hershey, J.M. Smucker Co., Sodexo, Hormel Foods, Philz Coffee, Protein2o and Danone Canada span finance, commercial sales, operations and product development as companies position leaders around growth and execution.

 


The Hershey Company named Dave Hulays chief financial officer, effective September 2. Hulays succeeds Steve Voskuil, who plans to retire in early 2027 and will serve as senior vice president of strategic projects during the transition.

Hulays most recently served as senior vice president of finance and has nearly 30 years of financial leadership experience at Hershey and Procter & Gamble. Since joining Hershey in 2012, he has held responsibilities across the company’s U.S. and international businesses, global supply chain, mergers and acquisitions, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury and enterprise transformation.

Voskuil has led Hershey’s finance organization for seven years. In his new role, he will work on strategic initiatives for the CEO and board while supporting the CFO transition.


The J.M. Smucker Co. elected Jeff Varcoe, Ph.D., senior vice president of science and technical excellence, effective August 24. He reports to Rob Ferguson, chief product supply officer and executive vice president of coffee, pet and away from home.

Varcoe will oversee technical disciplines supporting product quality, compliance and innovation. He has served as Smucker’s vice president of quality assurance and food safety since 2023 and brings more than 25 years of food industry experience.

Before joining Smucker, Varcoe spent 21 years at the Schwan Food Company in food safety, quality, manufacturing technical services and research and development leadership roles.


Sodexo appointed Jérôme Lemouchoux chairman and general manager for Greater China, effective October 1. He will report to Sodexo Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa CEO Nicolas Lannuzel and join the region’s leadership team.

Lemouchoux will oversee Sodexo’s strategy in Greater China, including efforts to support growth, simplify its operating model and advance its Shift & Grow 2030 plan. He has spent more than 25 years with Sodexo in operations, sales, strategy, marketing and digital transformation.

He most recently served as group vice president of business sustainability and previously held CEO positions within Sodexo Benefits & Rewards Services, now Pluxee, and FoodChéri.


Hormel Foods named Paul Kuehneman chief accounting officer. He will lead the company’s accounting organization and oversee its tax function while working with Ash Bhumbla, executive vice president and CFO.

Kuehneman has spent more than three decades with Hormel Foods and most recently served as interim chief financial officer and controller during a leadership transition.

He joined Hormel Foods in 1993 and has held accounting, audit and finance positions across the company, including chief financial officer of Jennie-O Turkey Store. He became controller in 2022.


Protein2o named Mark Rappaport chief executive officer and a member of its board of directors as the clear-protein beverage company also secured a new growth investment.

The company said the investment will support brand building, retail development, organizational capabilities and an expanded innovation pipeline.

Rappaport most recently served as global chief commercial officer of Congo Brands, whose portfolio includes Alani Nu. He previously held senior roles at Red Bull, including responsibilities for the company’s U.S. business and distribution organization.


Danone Canada appointed Natalie Holloway senior vice president of customer and commercial sales, effective September 8.

Holloway will lead the company’s customer and commercial sales organization and its relationships with retail partners across Canada. She brings 24 years of experience with Danone across retail sales, business development, category insights, account leadership, commercial strategy and enterprise transformation.

She most recently served as senior vice president of insights, strategy and transformation, where her responsibilities included strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration and data and analytics capabilities.


Philz Coffee appointed Mark Johnson chief operating officer of retail, putting him in charge of day-to-day retail operations as the coffee company expands its footprint. 

Johnson brings more than 30 years of food industry operations experience. He most recently spent 12 years at California Fish Grill, where he helped support the restaurant company’s expansion.
