Luca Zaramella will become Mondelēz International’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer, expanding his responsibilities beyond finance. The appointment takes effect February 1.

In his expanded role, Zaramella will oversee Mondelēz’s commercial operations across its four geographic regions as well as its corporate sales, marketing and supply chain functions. Zaramella will continue to report to the chair and CEO Dirk Van de Put, according to the company. Van de Put said Zaramella brings operational and financial experience across Latin America, Europe and North America.

Mondelēz said it is conducting a search for a successor to the chief financial officer position and expects to announce that leader at a later date.

Zaramella has served as Mondelēz’s chief financial officer since 2018.
