Hormel emphasizes innovation, sustainability in 2024 impact report
Hormel Foods has released its 19th annual Global Impact Report, outlining fiscal 2024 progress under its new Good Feeds Us All framework. The Fortune 500 food company said the framework builds on its prior “20 By 30 Challenge” and organizes efforts around two pillars: planet and society.
The company reported measurable progress throughout its operations. In fiscal 2024, Hormel:
- Cut greenhouse gas emissions, reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by nearly 17% year-over-year.
- Saved 73 million gallons of water, a 5.5% reduction from the prior year.
- Completed 23 packaging projects, eliminating more than 1 million pounds of material in its U.S. supply chain.
- Contributed $22.6 million in cash and product donations.
- Supported 179 dependents of team members with free two-year college education through its Inspired Pathways program.
For operators, the consumer-facing side of the report is equally significant. Hormel launched more than 540 new products across its retail, foodservice and international divisions in 2024, including options with reduced sugar, sodium, and simplified ingredient lists. These innovations align directly with workplace wellness and consumer demand for clean-label options.
Hormel executives emphasized that Good Feeds Us All is designed to clarify the company’s role in responsible sourcing, food quality and community impact. “It demonstrates how our values shape the way we work and shows how we continue to evolve with the world around us, while staying true to the principles that have long defined us,” said interim CEO Jeff Ettinger.
Hormel’s focus on cleaner ingredients, sustainable packaging and reliable sourcing creates opportunities for vending, micro markets and OCS programs to align with customer expectations around wellness and ESG priorities.
