Frito-Lay acquires land in NY's Hudson Valley for new $100 million fulfillment center

Dec. 28, 2021

Frito-Lay North America Inc. and Think Dutchess Alliance for Business announced last week that the snack-food giant will be constructing a $100 million fulfillment center in East Fishkill, NY. Frito-Lay has acquired 28 acres for the proposed 150,000-sq.ft. facility, which will be located at National Resources’ iPark 84 campus in East Fishkill.

Construction will begin in 2022 and the facility is expected to open in 2024. Frito-Lay will begin hiring for new jobs at the plant in 2023; average wages are expected to be 150% of the average Dutchess County salary.

“We are excited to welcome Frito-Lay to Dutchess County, furthering the county’s logistics and manufacturing significance in the northeast,” said Dutchess county executive Marcus J. Molinaro. “The region will benefit from new jobs, and locally the county, town and school district will benefit from new tax dollars, and the added benefit of eliminating a long vacant and blighted site. Moreover, Frito-Lay’s commitment to sustainability, and diversity and inclusion will provide social, environmental and economic benefits for years to come.”

The development project is the first time Frito-Lay has had a presence in East Fishkill. When selecting a location for the facility, the town was chosen because of the community’s support of the project, Frito-Lay noted.

The new fulfillment center will operate 24 hours a day, six days per week, receiving snack food product from affiliate-owned manufacturing facilities located in Kirkwood, NY; Killingly, CT; Perry, GA, and Aberdeen, MD. While no product will be manufactured at the site, snacks received will be distributed from the project site to the New York metro market.

Frito-Lay North America is the $18 billion convenient foods division of PepsiCo Inc.
