Compass Group adopts electric vehicle policy in UK and Ireland

Dec. 1, 2021

The UK’s leading foodservice provider has adopted a 100% electric policy for all new fleet cars. More than 500 employees of Compass Group UK & Ireland have been given the opportunity to order an electric vehicle by the end of the year.

According to an announcement, the EV move is part of Compass's Climate Net Zero program aiming all greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its global operations and value chain by 2050.

All Compass Group UK & Ireland employees entitled to company cars will be offered the opportunity to switch over to electric vehicles by May 2024 at the latest. The new policy affects around 900 people.

Compass said it has also taken an active role in improving access to charging points by funding installations at colleagues’ homes and installing points in UK offices in Birmingham and Chertsey. The rollout of EVs has started with those who have high mileage and the longest leases to make the biggest impact on emissions immediate.

Compass is also increasing the number of charging points at client sites.
