John B. Sanfilippo & Son Inc. announced that Frank S. Pellegrino has taking on the role of chief financial officer of the company, effective Aug. 20. Pellegrino also holds the position of finance and administration executive vice president, Finance and Administration, and serves as the company's treasurer.
As previously disclosed and in accordance with his succession plan, Sanfilippo's Michael J. Valentine stepped down from his role as chief financial officer. Valentine remains the group president and secretary, as well as a director of the company.
Pellegrino, 47, has been employed by the company since 2007 and occupied roles of increasing significance since that time.
“I am pleased to welcome frank to the chief financial officer role,” stated chief executive Jeffrey T. Sanfilippo. “Frank has been an integral part of our senior management team."
John B. Sanfilippo & Son is a processor, packager, marketer and distributor of nut and dried fruit based products that are sold under a variety of private brands. The company's brand names include Fisher, Orchard Valley Harvest, Squirrel Brand, Southern Style Nuts and Sunshine Country.
