Cliff Whitehead has been with Flowers Foods since 1982 and has held multiple sales and marketing positions at the company, taking leadership of the vending channel in 2002.
July 21, 2020 / THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE: FLO), producer of Nature’s Own, Dave’s Killer Bread, Wonder, Tastykake, and other bakery foods, today announced the retirement of Cliff Whitehead, vice president of sales for the vending channel, effective July 24, 2020.
Whitehead has been involved in building Flowers’ cake vending business since 1989 and was part of the team that introduced the Mrs. Freshley’s brand into the vending channel nationwide in 1994.
Since joining the sales team of Flowers’ Baton Rouge, La., bakery in 1982, Whitehead has held a number of sales and marketing positions, including director of marketing for Jack’s Cookie Co., a subsidiary since divested, and brand manager within Flowers’ marketing team. Following his work in forming the company’s vending business, he briefly joined Flowers’ foodservice team before returning to take leadership of the vending channel in 2002.
“Cliff has been an asset to our team and it’s due to his efforts that Mrs. Freshley’s is today the top-selling pastry brand in the vend channel,” noted Brad Alexander, Flowers Foods’ chief operating officer. “We greatly appreciate his many contributions to our cake and foodservice business and wish him all the best in the future.”
Whitehead has held leadership roles in the industry, serving on the National Automatic Merchandising Association Board of Directors and on the Georgia Automatic Merchandising Association Board of Governors.
