Reuters: Solid Consumer Spending In June Shows Signs Of Continuing

Aug. 1, 2018

Consumer spending increased in June, says Reuters citing Commerce Department data, especially in what households spent eating out. This is a strong sign going into the third quarter of 2018.

Part of the picture is that employers are increasing benefits for workers (even if wages are sluggish), there are high levels of savings and lower taxes. All these suggest spending will remain strong for the rest of the year.
