Gas Prices Spike This Spring
The first quarter of 2018 has shown increased prices at the pump, according to AAA. Motorists are paying an average of a quarter more than at this time last year. Although there have been decreases in price in the last few weeks, this is not a trend that will last. AAA forecasts that this spring will bring a national gas price average of as much as $2.70/gallon. It hasn't been that high since summer of 2015, when prices hit $2.81. Motorists may consider changing their driving habits to conserve fuel, as gas prices rise to potentially 40-cents more per gallon than last spring. AAA offers a few tips to conserve on fuel:
- Slow down: the faster you drive, the more fuel you use.
- Don't use your trunk for storage: the heavier your car, the more fuel it uses
- Combine errands
- Carpool / Ride-share
