SCA President Gives A Message On Recent Policy Work

Feb. 2, 2018

Paul Stack, president of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) board of directors, gave a message earlier this month announcing new DC policy and events site criteria committees and task force on equity, diversity and inclusion. Stack detailed two ad hoc committees and one longer-term task force which were being established:

  • WCE Deferred Candidacy Policy Ad Hoc Committee
  • SCA/WCE Events Sponsorship & Site Criteria Ad Hoc Committee
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force

The ad hoc committees are charged with addressing "the specific needs through empowered representation and deliberation of stakeholder groups." Stack goes on to describe the makeup of the committees, saying they will have support of staff members and the total number of committee members will be 15 people. The duty of the task for is to product a list of recommendations on organization-wide changes that need to be made, and to create out of those concrete measures to be put into the SCA's 2017/2020 Strategic Plan "to make all parts of our organization more equitable, divers, and inclusive."
