A Portland man has been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for his role in smuggling $2.7 million worth of cocaine across the country from California, reports the Portland Press Herald. According to court documents, Robert Evon admitted that he arranged to have two soda vending machines filled with cocaine delivered from Los Angeles to Elizabeth, NJ.
Evon hired a man to rent a box truck in 2012 and drive the vending machines filled with cocaine from New Jersey to Vermont. The vending machines held about 78 kilograms of the substance, the source reports.
