Santa Clarita Concessions Celebrates Its 60 Year Anniversary

Oct. 12, 2015

Santa Clarita, CA-based Santa Clarita Concessions is celebrating 60 years in business, according to The Santa Clarita Valley Signal. The vending and OCS business began in 1955 by Gene Burke and is today owned and operated by Burke’s daughter, Lisa, who discussed the company’s changing landscape.

The company suffered deeply from the recession, Lisa told the news source, going from 23 mobile catering trucks to only seven as locations faced layoffs or shut down completely. In 2011 the company ended up selling the catering segment of business to focus on vending and office coffee. “We see business coming back,” she told the news source. “It is definitely better than it was in 2008.”

However, Lisa tells the source, the biggest challenge the industry continues to face is pricing.

Today the company has 10 employees and five vending routes. Read the full profile here.
