(CHICAGO) April 7, 2015– The Northwest Automatic Vending Association (NAVA) hosted a legislative day recently at the Washington State Capitol in Olympia. NAVA members met with their state senators and representatives to educate and inform them about the industry and its contributions to Washington’s economy.
The legislative event focused on educating state lawmakers on the refreshment services industry. "NAVA members from Washington were able to meet with their legislators and discuss the industry and share information about their individual companies,” said NAVA Legislative Consultant Brad Boswell. “NAVA members have visited Olympia annually and have worked over the years to build relationships with their representatives. This year the group had a total of 16 individual meetings with legislators and staff. Our focus was on the role our industry plays in the local economy and the number of people in the state of Washington that our members serve.” Boswell concluded.
“The Washington Legislative Day has become an annual event for NAVA and provides our members with an opportunity to showcase our industry and educate our elected officials on our efforts,” said NAVA President Steve Vargas. “We had members join us from all parts of the state who were able to discuss the role their companies play in their local economy. Our members also discussed NAVA’s longstanding commitment to preserving consumer choice by providing customers with a variety of traditional snacks as well as better for you items that align with NAMA’s FitPick Program.” he continued.
“As the faces of the refreshment services industry in Washington, NAVA members demonstrated the positive impact that our industry has on local economies throughout the state,” said Sandy Larson, NAMA Senior Director of Government Affairs. “NAVA”s Washington legislative day is an important part of the process of building relationships with our elected officials and making our industry’s presence known at the state level.” she concluded.
