A University of Arkansas article published in its online student newspaper, The Arkansas Traveler, suggests that eliminating vending machines in several campus buildings could help reduce the university’s electricity consumption from 2 to 5 percent. One of the issues is that Vending Misers, energy efficiency tools for vending machines, were removed when the vending provider changed. The school is looking at energy consumption in detail this month as part of the Every Kilowatt Counts program. Full article.
