Former MLB All-Star Pitcher Tommy John To Keynote ACE 2014

April 22, 2014

Atlantic Coast Exposition (ACE) announced the keynote speaker for its 60th diamond anniversary celebration – Tommy John, former Major League Baseball All-Star Pitcher. His address is to be part of the ACE 2014 slogan: Hitting Grand Slams Since 1954.

John was a left-handed pitcher in MLB who had 288 career victories that rank as the seventh highest total among left-handers in MLB history. He is also known for the surgery that is now named after him that revolutionized repairing damaged ligaments, often in pitchers' arms. Over half of his career wins were logged after his surgery. John allowed Mark McGwire two hits off him in 1989 which is the year he decided to retire. McGwire's father was John's dentist so John said, "When your dentist's kid starts hitting you, it's time to retire!" In 2009, John was eligible for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

There are two opportunities to hear John at ACE 2014. Come to the ACE Awards Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. for his entertaining keynote presentation and again to the 7th Inning Stretch Party on Friday night where it’s possible to meet John in person.

ACE 2014 will take place Oct. 2 to 4, 2014 at the Embassy Suites, Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Early bird registration is now open. For more information visit www.AtlanticCoastExpo.com, email [email protected] or call 919-387-1221.
