As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts, NAMA’s government affairs team participated in the American Associations Day (AAD) Fly-In on Capitol Hill. This is the only event of its kind, allowing association professionals to connect with Congressional offices and discuss issues important to associations.

NAMA’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Eric Dell joined other association executives, including Franklin Davis with the American Beverage Association, Erin Hardwick Pate of the South Carolina Association of CPA’s and Keely Gates with the South Carolina Society of Association Executives at the event. The group visited the Congressional offices of Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, as well as Congressmen Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson, all of South Carolina.

“We were able to meet with staff members and emphasize the importance of allowing federal employees to attend private meetings, including tradeshows like NAMA’s OneShow and tax issues related to potential tax reform legislation,” Dell said in a prepared statement. “This event allowed another opportunity to strengthen NAMA’s relationships on Capitol Hill and among our association partners.”
