FDA, HHS Announce Calorie Disclosure Rules, February 2014

Dec. 3, 2013

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)’s pending calorie disclosure rules are projected for February 2014 for final action.

"As with similar announcements, it’s important to recognize that at this point February is a projection, not a definitive date for issuance of the final rules," said Eric Dell, NAMA’s senior vice president of Government Affairs, in a prepared statement. "Regardless of timing, NAMA’s GA team will provide the support you need to be positioned for success."

On Nov. 26, 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services published their Semiannual Regulatory Agenda (Unified Agenda), presenting the rulemaking activities that the department expects to undertake in the foreseeable future. This agenda includes the department's new February 2014 projection on calorie disclosure rules for vending.
